The Persuaders

The Persuaders was a very interesting video presentation.  I loved learning about the different techniques for advertising.  The concept behind the birthing of the airline Song is really what caught my attention.
The idea behind song was to create more than just a product, but to create more than that.  This requires:
            *Idea
            *Added value
            *”Story”
Although Song did not prosper as an airline, I think that the idea of creating a culture behind a product.  People look for something to which they can relate to or be a part of.  Inclusion into a culture is something that everyone wants, and that companies can sell to get people to buy their products.
While I think that the idea behind the marketing for Song was brilliant, and the ads were gorgeous and enticing, I think that they brought in this idea too soon.  Creating ads like that for a more established company would be the best move.  Starting out a company without actually advertising what the company does is not going to get consumers to buy your product.
Seeing all of the data that can be taken and used for political purposes is absolutely shocking.  It is so interesting to see how far America has come as far as everything is able to be so customized from this data.
The most interesting method of advertising explained in this video presentation was the emotional connection.  An emotional connection to an advertisement greatly increases the rate of consumption.
An example of an advertisement with emotional connection is the Budweiser Superbowl advertisement.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAsjRRMMg_Q  This year’s commercial used puppies and Clydesdales to advertise for beer, yet again setting high standards for advertising and creating a great emotional bond between the product and the consumer.

On my honor, I have watched The Persuaders in its entirety.
